MADAME KATASTROFF
History
Madame Katastroff is a Finnish born drag queen. She started her drag career in Tampere, Finland 1999, with a different drag name (Madame Castafiora) where she was performing at the International Theatre Festival. Same year she took part to Miss Drag Queen Contest 2000 in Finland and became second.
After that she spent almost two years polishing her act and participated to Miss Drag Queen Contest 2002 and got a honorary prize.
Madame Castafiora had her farewell concert at the same venue where the Miss Drag Queen Contests were held in May 2002. After that she changed her name to Madame Katastroff and she went abroad to study drag culture and to explore different audiences. She spent almost 10 years to study acting, directing and other forms of theatre. Finally year 2011 she was performing at the Finnish TV -show "Lentokenttä" (At the Airport), which became a huge success.
She thought that after that appearance it was the time to move abroad and she moved to United Kingdom. She took part to Drag Idol competition in London 2012 and made an appearance that was blown to people's minds. Finally year 2013 she was ready to do her own full-length show in London, and she was part of Royal Vauxhall Tavern's Hot August Fringe festival, where she performed her solo show "Madame Katastroff's Night of Curiosities" which was chosen as TimeOut's Critic's Choice. It was also performed at the legendary Battersea Barge for a sold-out audience.
Madame Katastroff has been performing at some of the most prestigious venues in London including Halfway to Heaven, Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Madame Jojos, 79CXR, Cirque le Soir, The Box, Tobacco Dock, Earl's Court Exhibition Centre, Finnish Ambassador's Residence amongst many others. She was also one of the contestants at Vanity's Drag Hunt - tv-project hosted by Vanity von Glow.
